What are your thoughts on teaching?
The studio is where I feel most at home, and I thrive when engaging in dialogue with students and colleagues while we are all making art. I love having honest conversations with students about how to define their artistic identity, how to make sense of the art world, and how to maintain a studio practice. I challenge students by inviting them to make things out of clay they did not think possible–both physically and conceptually.
Tell us about your field of expertise.
Using clay as a drawing material, my ceramic wall sculptures are a psychedelic concoction of lived and imagined experiences that ponder the power of personal rites of passage.
What hobbies/interests do you enjoy outside of academia?
Bicycling, hiking, swimming, and hanging out with my family
