Thoughts on teaching:
Language learning empowers students to explore and shape their own identities. In my classroom, I foster a community where learners connect with each other and engage with diverse linguistic communities beyond their immediate world. This sense of connection and cultural exploration is something they carry with them long after their university experience. Through cross-cultural analysis and multimedia approaches — ranging from literature and film to graphic novels and video games — my courses open doors to new perspectives and lasting, meaningful engagement.
Field(s) of expertise/interest:
France and North Africa from the Second World War to today, trauma and memory studies, post-memory in literature and film, the representations of armed conflicts in literature, film, and new media.
Hobbies/interests:
When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time visiting family in France, playing the violin, knitting socks for my loved ones, visiting as many new museums as I can, watching history documentaries, and listening to punk rock.
