Thoughts on teaching:
I approach teaching and learning with a growth mindset, believing that basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work and that brains and talent are just the starting point, contrasting with a fixed mindset that sees fundamental qualities, like intelligence or talent, as fixed traits.
Field(s) of expertise/interest:
My research lies at the intersection of security, conflict processes, and African politics. One of my ongoing projects investigates the micro effects of climate change on farmer-herder interactions in West Africa. This work challenges the assumptions linking climate change and conflict by questioning whether conflict always follows environmental stress and, if not, why this is the case.
